Uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths in the uterus that can cause significant pain, heavy bleeding and fatigue for millions of women.

By age 50, up to 80% of Black women and 70% of White women will experience fibroids —yet many suffer in silence or are told surgery is their only option.

There’s another option to share.

Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment now covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance plans.

Performed by an interventional radiologist, UFE:

  • Reduces heavy menstrual bleeding.
  • Relieves pain and pressure.
  • Helps improve overall quality of life.

The procedure is done through a tiny incision in the wrist or thigh, blocking blood flow to fibroids so they shrink over time.

These ready-to-air radio spots from the Radiology Health Equity Coalition are designed to raise awareness and empower women to talk with their doctors about all available treatment options.
